On the basis of his scientific research, he characterized and proposed a periodization of architecture and urban planning in the South of Russia; developed a concept of cultural and environmental taxonomy of heritage; introduced the concept of a third layer in architecture. A big number of his publications are devoted to trends in modern architecture and the work of Russian architects.

He is the author of over 350 works, including 8 monographs (Architectural Chronicle of Rostov-on-Don; together with V.A. Chernitsyna, 1999, 2002; Yakov Belopolsky, 2009; Architecture of the South of Russia. From history to the present, 2016, etc.), a series of developments for pre-university and higher education in architecture, art and design.
He is participant of art exhibitions and creative competitions, author of museum and exhibition expositions, paintings and graphics.
