George C. Manos

Professor Emeritus in Structural Engineering; 1987 – 2015, Director of the Laboratory of Strength of Materials and Structures, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece

George Manos got his Diploma in Civil Engineering at Aristotle University and his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering at the University of Durham, England. He has served as visiting research fellow/professor at Imperial College, University of London, University of Bristol (England), University of California, Berkeley (USA), Institute of Industrial Science of the University of Tokyo (Japan). He specializes in earthquake engineering and structural dynamics, with emphasis on experimental methods as well as numerical simulations of structural problems.

Professor Manos has more than 35 years of experience as a consulting engineer in projects related to earthquake-resistant structures and reinforcement of structures affected by earthquakes.

He is a member of the Greek State Committee for Construction Standards and Regulations regarding seismic resistance of structures, earthquake threats and earthquake prevention. He is a member of various technical committees for standardization and principal investigator in numerous scientific projects. He is expert in the European Research Council and the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research.

Dr. Manos is the author of more than 150 technical papers.
